How to Stop Your Toddler Throwing Up

The last thing a parent wants is her toddler throwing up.  Some of them start to cough, then proceed to throw up, others stick their fingers too far down their own throats and throw up and others just puke!

If this happens more than once it can become very stressful and time consuming (cleaning up) for the parents and caregivers. Toddlers appear to do this when they are not getting enough attention, IE in the car, or when they are asked to do something they don't want to do, like going to bed.

It may be best to take your child to the Dr to check that he doesn't have reflux or anything else that could make him vomit.

If the toddler is fine according to the Dr, then the best way to handle this is calmly. If its the fingers down the throat, as soon as you see fingers going into the mouth, calmly pull them out and say "don't put your fingers down your throat please".

If you can be vigilant and take action soon enough you will be able, in most cases, to avoid the vomit.

Is your toddler throwing up in bed? Then the first thing to do is to add a waterproof sheet over the bottom sheet and add a small draw sheet over the top. That way its easy to take off the drawsheet and waterproof and still have a clean sheet on the bed.

The next thing to do would be after he has thrown up, change the bed with out talking to him, lay him down and leave.This way he will realise that this doesn't get him extra attention and it also doesn't get him out of going to bed. Hopefully he will realise the tactic isn't working so he will stop doing it.

According to a Dr I was talking to, toddlers of this age find it very easy to throw up so don't be too concerned.

7 Fun Ways to Tell Your Husband You're Pregnant

"I'm pregnant! I'm pregnant!" These words are likely dancing through your head, but before you blurt them to your husband the first chance you get, consider your timing and delivery. You don't really want to break such amazing news over the phone, do you? You can't even see his reaction. And the moment he walks in the door from work or golf may not be ideal, either. What if he lost the big deal or the game and is in a nasty mood?

The happy moment of news-telling doesn't come along often, so why not anticipate and savor it to the fullest? If you're looking for a creative new way to beat the simple "I'm pregnant!" announcement, and feel that this occasion calls for something extra-special and carefully planned, read on and choose from the following seven creative suggestions, or use them as a spring-board for forming your own unique ideas.

1. Take your husband out

If your husband's the one who usually takes you out, now's your turn. "I'm taking you somewhere special, but I want it to be a complete surprise, so . . ." pull out a blindfold and hope he plays along. While you drive, urge him to guess your destination. Finally, park at a baby store or a playground. Remove the blindfold and enjoy the befuddled look on your husband's face. If he doesn't figure things out on his own, say something like, "I thought we should take a look in the store and see what we like, because we're going to need to things for our new baby!" Or, at the park, "We're going to be coming here quite a bit in about two years-because we're going to have a baby!" Then it's time to celebrate at a nice restaurant.

2. Give your husband a gift

As you present the gift, tell him you're giving it to him because you love him and you especially love the gift he gave you. He likely has not given you a gift lately, so he'll be confused as he tears into the paper. Once he unwraps an adorable baby item, such as a toy, outfit, or booties, truth may dawn. If not, it's time to fill him in!

3. Send him a card

This idea requires excruciating patience, so you may just want to hand him the card, although that takes away some of the mystery. For a return address, write something clever like "Special Delivery Street, Storkland, AM". On a cute baby or kid card write, "To my new daddy. I can't wait to meet you!" or something enlightening like that.

4. Bake a sweet treat

If you do want to share the news over a meal, get creative and decorate a baby-themed cake. Write a message on the top such as, "A New Little One is on the way!" Or, bake a batch of cupcakes. Instead of decorating them obviously, tell him there is a surprise inside his cupcake. "So eat it carefully." What he doesn't know is you've hidden a plastic baby shower favor (such as a small baby rattle) in it. (Poke it into the cupcake AFTER you've baked and cooled the cakes and before you frost them. Keep track of which cupcake holds the surprise.) Also, make sure the item is large enough so he'll find it without choking! If you're feeling really creative, bake a batch of homemade fortune cookies, inserting applicable messages such as "Soon to be a family of 3," "A special delivery on the way," etc.

5. Play a game

If your husband enjoys a good game, you could use this to your advantage, making up a riddle, crossword, or a puzzle in which the "solution" reveals the baby news. A great game to use for this is "Hang-Man." Agree that you will each write a message instead of the typical one word. Remember to each use an equal number of letters (which you will need to determine). Your message could be "We are expecting."

6. Honey-do list

Are you a wife who often hands your husband a to-do list? If so, surprise him with one that reads, "Bring up baby crib from basement" (if you already have one), "Celebrate," "Buy a car seat," etc. You get the idea.

7. Good night

This final suggestion is simple but effective and memorable. As you are about to go to sleep, tell your husband good night (here's hoping this is normal procedure anyway, and won't raise suspicion). When he responds in kind, tell him, "There's someone else you need to say good night to, as well." He'll be confused and say something like, "What are you talking about?" There's your opening. After telling him the news, don't expect to fall asleep anytime soon!

As baby guinea pigs are very tiny it a good idea to take extra precautions to help ensure their safety in their cage.  Consider their tiny heads could become stuck between the bars and possibility of strangulation.  A way of preventing this is to line the cage walls with coroplast or cardboard from the floor level up to approximately one foot.  If you are using a cage made from a grid, you could double the walls and in between place coroplast or cardboard to create a "wall".  When the babies are four to six months old,  you can remove the layer as they will have grown enough to not get stuck.

When the babies are born and the mother has had a chance to clean them and time to bond,  it is fairly safe to touch the babies. Your scent on the babies shouldn't cause the mother to abandon her  pups.  This would be a good time to start monitoring their weight.  By tracking and monitoring their weight gives you an insight to their health.  If the baby isn't growing at the same rate as the others you will see this in the weight and can intervene to assist and provide health care.

Sometimes a pups growth is slower as they are not receiving enough of their mothers milk.  You can intervene and place the pup alone with it's mother for feeding.  If their weight continues to fluctuate, for either the babies or the mother, it's best to contact your Veterinarian right away.

Provide a alfalfa rich (with adequate levels of Vitamin C)  in a pellet form as they are beneficial to the babies growing requirements and very helpful for a pregnant guinea pig.  As guinea pigs are plant based eaters avoid food sources that contain animal products, sugars, seeds/nuts and fats. Also supply a fresh clean water source and timothy hay.

Staining Wood - Chairs

Staining wood can be very rewarding, it can totally change the way the object looks. Basically you can stain anything in your home that's made of wood. But of course some would be a lot easier to stain than others items would be.

For example; if you want a stain something that has previously been stained that might be somewhat easier than staining a previously painted piece of wood.

Lets say you have two different chairs one was painted, and the other stained. Now mind you of course That if you have a ton or varnish on the chair he will have almost the same amount of work as you would have on a painted chair. A painted chair requires multiple coats of paint stripper applied. Do not try to take the paint off with one stripping session. Let the paint stripper do the work for you and take off one layer at a time easily. When you apply the paint stripper onto the wood let it sit for a couple minutes until it bubbles or you can see it lift. At this point you can either take a specialty paint stripping blade which looks something like a triangle with a stick attached to it, and scrape off all the new stuff. This scraping should be relatively easy because you are not scraping off any Un-soften paint just the stuff that got softened by the stripper. Then paint it again with the stripper and repeat the process. I say again that the stripper do the work!

Once you have finally stripped all the paint off the chair now you can give it a sanding. while you are sanding examine the wood for misses of left on paint. Here you have two choices either put more stripper on which I suggest or or sand out the leftover paint.

Now that your chair is ready for staining you will need with you a soft cloth to stain with and some more fresh soft cloths to wipe with. I generally use a good quality rubber glove so my hands don't look awful when I finish staining. but don't wear such a hard glove that you can't move your hands in it. Dip at part of the rag into the container of stain being careful not to get the rag to wet with stain. And start wiping on staying the same way you do shoe polish don't forget this is not paint this is stain so you're not putting on layers thick of material you're just staining the wood not painting it.

Now that your chair has been stained you can choose a clear finish to put on top of the wood you can choose anywhere from a satin finish to a high gloss finish. If you want to do a nice finish then do multiple coats of clear on it don't try to do just one. five thin coats look a lot better than two thick ones.
